I've always admired the way Frank Frazetta could take the beauty of the female nude and yet no matter how much of the body was showing, it never came close to some of the sleazier depictions of nudity so often found by younger artists exhibiting their work at Sci-Fi and Fantasy shows. Catch of the Day was the first (and most successful of these I've done) because it offerred a touch of humour. So, my mind was trying to come up with another piece that mixed the beauty of the female form with a little bit of laughter about sexuality. For some reason, I thought about the loneliness of space. Maybe I was just tired of being around people making demands of me all day. And I thought how nice it would be to get away. Then my imagination took over and I thought of a pretty woman, perhaps on her way to some other planet to colonize it, staying in a room on a space station, seemingly all alone out in space. However, being human, everyone has the same longing to get away, and apparently even out in space, we can never really be alone. Did I get the idea across?
