Katie went off to high school after the move, rather than continuing to be homeschooled by Shelley and the other two humans. Shelley did not entirely approve, but had Katie's mother at home full-time as a consolation prize. What kind of people won't let cats go supervise their humans at school, anyway? It is Shelley's opinion that schools must have something to hide.
Shelley spent most of her last six months in Katie's Mommy's lap or on her heated window perch. She allowed Kiyoshi to take on more and more of the supervision of the household, as she needed more sleep and had bigger issues to ponder.
At the very end, Shelley developed a tumor on the right side of her face that interfered with breathing. She went to the vet's office on February 8, 2007 and passed gently into eternal rest.
